2001-05-28  a nice little weekend.

Woo! I am very pleased with my computer now. Chris fixed it and the resolution is at 1024, and everything looks like it should and it's just lovely. On Saturday, he and I went to CompUSA to get a new video card, but after we got home and he looked at it all he was able to adjust the settings on the existing one, so we just returned the one I'd just bought for a full refund. Then we had Blizzards from Dairy Queen and then he dropped me off at Brooke's house, where she and I burned two CDs of Sleater-Kinney for a total of 37 tracks. That's a damn lot, don't you think? Brooke and her parents dropped me off on their way to Tucker and on the way we discussed college and picked up photos at Eckerd's; said photos included two good shots of Alan Cumming and two bad shots of Jay Clifford. "That man needs some serious help," said Brooke's father. That reminds me, I need to develop two rolls at Eckerd's this week.

On Sunday, Manashi and I went to Fernbank. We went to the noon showing of "Ocean Oasis," the small audience for which was primarily peopled by grandparents and little kids. However, this was my first IMAX movie and I enjoyed it despite the cheesy narration and music; the photography was naturally stunning and I learned things about Baja California and the Sea of Cortes that I was unaware of previously. Then we went to eat; they have a surprisingly nice little cafeteria. Afterwards, we went to the Savage Ancient Seas exhibit, the highlights of which were the megalodon jaw and the enormous sea turtle. The gift shop at the end nearly compelled me to purchase a silver wraparound alligator ring, but I resisted. We looked at a few other exhibits too, and then of course the main gift shop, which was not as tempting as I thought it would be. This was probably a good thing. I ended up buying some pencils and a little plastic tree frog to sit on my computer.

After Manashi dropped me off I went ahead and made the lipgloss from the kit. It smells just like my old Strawberry Shortcake dolls, which is to say delicious, and it is very pink and very goopy. It prompted me to create a lipgloss diaryring. If you are also a lipgloss loony, please join.

Today, I gave myself a little facial complete with one of those oh-so-satisfying Biore strips (the extra-special tea tree oil ones, you know), and I screwed around with HTML, specifically with input boxes (check out the guestbook to see an example) and I am mostly finished with Dana's diary. I find HTML to be kind of therapeutic. It's not hideously complicated and it gives a sense of accomplishment when you get stuff to look right.

Four days left until the Charleston show. Nicole unfortunately has mono and it's important that she stay at home and take care of herself, because mono, in a word, sucks. So Chris is going to go, and me and Brooke and Brooks are riding with him. Ooh, I'm so excited! I can't wait to see people.

So all in all, it was a pleasant enough little weekend. I have to get some shit done this week but I also have to get my sleep, to save up for Friday and Saturday, so that means I'll have to get off IM before midnight. I think I have the willpower. ;)
